Fairfield Theatre Company hosts press conference about new venue

Fairfield Theatre Company will formally announce the building of its new performing arts venue, The Warehouse at FTC at a press conference on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 9:30 a.m., at StageOne, 70 Sanford Street, Fairfield.

The conference will communicate all pertinent details and information about the project including size and scope, timeline and impact on the community.

The press conference will be hosted by FTC Producing Artistic Director John Reid. Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau also will be present. The conference will be followed by a tour of the facility. A continental breakfast will be available at 9 a.m.

About The Warehouse

Location: In the existing FTC facility next to StageOne, 70 Sanford Street, Fairfield (across from the Fairfield Train Station)

Size: 8,000 square feet

Capacity: 640 people (three times the size of StageOne)

Venue Design and Layout: Designed by Michael Smith Architects, The Warehouse will be a multi-purpose performing arts venue for concerts, performances, and events with movable seating and modular staging. Maximum flexibility is our goal.

A significant amount of the project costs will go in to what matters the most – sound and lights. The Warehouse will be acoustically engineered and equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems. A mezzanine running the length of the back and side walls with a concessions area, tables, couches, and chairs that will seat up to 140 of the total 640 people.

Project cost: $1,500,000

Budget breakdown: 35% Sound & Lighting, 20% New Infrastructure, 15% HVAC/Sprinkler, 15% Plumbing/Electrical, 15% Mezzanine.
