Fairfield officials to plan for blizzard

Fairfield’s emergency management team will meet at 9 a.m. Monday to discuss plans for what the National Weather Service is calling a possibly historic blizzard.

Cautioning that strong winds result in power outages, First Selectman Michael Tetreau advised residents via Twitter to have extra batteries on hand.

Tetreau and Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara also asked residents to check in on elderly neighbors.

MacNamara urged residents to remain at home Tuesday to avoid becoming stranded in the storm. In his tweet, MacNamara used the hashtag “snowinfeetnot inches.”
