Newtown edges Notre Dame in last minute

The Notre Dame of Fairfield boys basketball team led throughout the first 31-plus minutes of its visit to South-West Conference rival Newtown High on Tuesday, but the Nighthawks took their first lead with just 39 seconds left and it held up.
Newtown won 44-43 on a layup by Jeremy Doski .which followed a knock-away by Doski moments earlier.
The Lancers missed a chance to win the game at the buzzer after a wild series of events, including Newtown drawing a charge, then losing the ball out of bounds on the ensuing inbound pass in the final seconds.
The Lancers were led by Jesse McIntosh’s 14 points, Jake Heaton’s 11 and eight from C.J. Davidson.
Newtown’s Will Dalton scored 13, Doski had 10 and Charlie Huegi scored eight.
