Talking about Iraq history

History lectures continue at the Fairfield Public Library on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m., in the Rotary Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.

Mark Albertson will be discussing Iraq: Creation of Colonialism. On October 3, 2014, Iraq turned 82-years-old. On that date in 1932 the British Mandate expired and Iraq joined the League of Nations as a modern nation. This lecture traces the progression of Iraq and the rest of the Middle East, and covers how Iraq and its neighbors became the products of the British and French colonial agendas.

Mr. Albertson is the historical research editor at Army Aviation magazine in Monroe and is a long-time member of the United States Naval Institute. He is both an author and professor of history at Norwalk Community College.

Advance registration is required due to the limited space. All programs at the Fairfield Public Library are free of charge.
