Fairfield taxpayers sent false notice due to software glitch

On Friday, June 1, Fairfield’s Tax Collector Department mailed over 7,000 tax delinquent notices to Fairfield taxpayers — this was a glitch in the town’s software conversion system.

The system failed to filter out notices stating that taxpayers owe $2 or less. Any taxpayer who received a notice owing $2 or less should ignore that notice.

Fiscal Officer Paul Hiller said, “The town regrets this error and will correct this problem immediately. Any taxpayer who had received this notice will have their account corrected.”

Anyone who has questions about this glitch, should call the tax collector’s office at 203-256-3100.
