Best-selling author J. Courtney Sullivan to speak at Pequot on Sunday


J. Courtney Sullivan, author of the New York Times best-selling novels Commencement, Maine and The Engagements, will appear at Pequot Library on Sunday, Jan. 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. at a free public event as part of the library’s ‘Meet the Author’ series.

Sullivan will talk about The Engagements for about 30 minutes, after which she will answer questions. The author presentation will be followed by book sales, signing and refreshments.

Sullivan’s Maine was named a Best Book of the Year by Time magazine and a Washington Post Notable Book for 2011. The Engagements was one of People magazine’s Top Ten Books of 2013 and an Irish Times Best Book of the Year. It is soon to be a major motion picture produced by Reese Witherspoon, and it will be translated into 17 languages.

Sullivan’s writing has appeared in the New York Times Book ReviewChicago Tribune, New York magazine, Elle, Glamour, Allure, Real Simple and O: The Oprah Magazine, among other periodicals. She is a co-editor with Courtney Martin of the essay anthology, Click: When We Knew We Were Feminists.
