Fairfield couple struck while crossing Commerce Drive, sent to intensive care unit

Fairfield police said a Fairfield man and wife were attempting to cross Commerce Drive on foot to go to Pepe’s Pizzeria when they were struck by a car shortly before 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26.

The couple had parked at Master Electric Supply, also on Commerce Drive, and were reported to be wearing dark clothing. The driver who hit the couple told police she didn’t see anyone until suddenly the man and woman were in front of her.

The couple was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center and admitted to the intensive care unit for treatment for a head laceration, collapsed lung and broken ribs.

The incident is under investigation.
