Paul F. Fanciulli of Stratford, owner of the Black Rock Service Center in Bridgeport, was arrested Dec. 18 and charged with third-degree larceny.

The owner of Route 1 Auto Body on 280 Post Road in Fairfield reported the theft of light equipment worth $4,500 from two trucks on the bodyshop’s lot on Nov. 21.

In the days following the alleged theft, an employee of the shop told the owner he thought he saw the equipment in a flatbed truck parked in the lot of the Black Rock Service Center. Subsequently, the employee took a photograph of the equipment, police said.

Following an investigation, police charged Fanciulli with stealing the equipment on Dec. 18. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is due in court on Jan. 3.
