Pawel Skretowicz, 27, of New Haven, turned himself in to police headquarters on a warrant and was charged with third-degree larceny Dec. 19.

A Fairfield resident told police on Dec. 17 that he bought a $300 Vespa motorbike advertised by Skretowicz on Craig’s List, but the vehicle identification (VIN) number on the bike Skretowicz delivered did not match the VIN number he provided prior to the sale.

When the buyer ran the actual vin number, it showed the bike had been reported as stolen in New Haven on Feb. 3.

Skretowicz was released on a $5,000 bond and is due in court Jan. 2.
