A "Christmas Walk"

Southport’s annual Christmas Walk, like the Shop and Stroll event, took place on Thursday, Dec. 11, but had a more family oriented and earlier focus, featuring the 5:00 arrival of Santa, followed by the public lighting of the Hospice Tree of Light.

Claudia O’Donnell, manager of McLaughlin Clothing in Southport, said the evening was “very successful for us.”

McLaughlin Clothing, which like many stores in the immediate vicinity, kept its doors open until 6:30, served wine and cheese, “and had many people come by,” said O’Donnell, who described a festive atmosphere in the neighborhood, with “people walking around in the street with children.”
