Community Police Academy accepting applications

The Fairfield Police Department invites community members 18 and older  to participate in the 2015 Citizen Police Academy, an interactive program designed to inform participants about the range of services provided by the department and provide an inside look at law enforcement operations and personnel.

The Citizen Police Academy is a 10-week program which offers a glimpse at life within the police department. Classes include presentations by all department divisions.

The course of study will cover many aspects of police operations, including patrol procedures, crime prevention, criminal investigations, gangs, narcotics, state’s attorney office, processing crime scenes and stolen cars.

The program will also include an opportunity to ride along with a Fairfield Police Officer and to participate in firearms training.

Classes will be held at the Fairfield Police Department on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 10, starting  Jan. 21.

Interested persons must complete an application to participate in the program; visit fpdctcom. Seating is limited to 30 students. Applications must be received by the Fairfield Police Department by Jan. 7.
