Fairfield woman named Fresh Air Fund chairperson

Amanda Hanson of Fairfield is the new chairperson for the Fresh Air Fund’s Fairfield area.

Hanson, her husband, Brian, and their children, Hayden, Ava and Maggie, have been involved with The Fresh Air Fund’s Volunteer Host Family Program since 2006.

“In 2006, my family started with this program thinking that we were going to do something nice for someone else, but we walked away with so many gifts,” Hanson said. “The impact for my family has been immeasurable. We have already created a committee for recruitment in Fairfield, and we are trying to broaden our reach. We of course welcome questions with open arms. I would love to share my story and alleviate any apprehension of potential host families. I can’t wait to get started.”

Fresh Air children are boys and girls, from 6 to 18 years old, who live in New York City.

Children on first-time visits are 6 to 12 years old and stay for one or two weeks. Children who are reinvited by host families may continue with the fund through age 18 and can participate in extended trips.
