Holiday time brings out Grinches along with Santas and angels. In light of  recent reports by residents of Fairfield and nearby towns of the theft of packages delivered to their homes,  the Fairfield Police Department has issued a warning on the subject, along with the following tips:

-Report all suspicious vehicles and persons by calling 9-1-1 immediately.

-If you anticipate a delivery, ask a neighbor, friend or relative to retrieve it for you.

-Be alert for your neighbors if you are home during the day.

-If an employer permits, have packages delivered to your workplace in order to receive them immediately.

-With tracking readily available online from most merchants, you can determine when to expect your delivery. Most delivery services even offer electronic alerts to your email and/or smartphone.

-Consider choosing a delivery option which requires a signature upon delivery.

-Request that packages be delivered to your back door.
