Men plead guilty in Fairfield CVS hold-up, other area robberies

Two young Bridgeport men face the possibility of 20 years behind bars after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit a series of armed robberies in and around Fairfield this year.

Connecticut U.S. Attorney Deirdre M. Daly said Lancelot Supersad, 19, of Bridgeport, began his crime spree in Fairfield at the CVS Pharmacy on Grasmere Avenue on April 26, acting with others to steal approximately $2,376.

Supersad, reportedly again acting with unnamed others, on May 3 attempted an armed robbery of the Mobil Gas station on Noble Avenue in Bridgeport, followed by a successful armed robbery of the Main Street branch of Webster Bank in Bridgeport on May 10, where he and others made off with about $4,170.

Then, on June 1, according to the statement from Daly’s office, Supersad and others hit a Pizza Hut on Bridgeport’s Boston Avenue, stealing $250 while armed.

On June 26, Daly’s office said, Supersad was joined by Bridgeport resident Anthony Santiago, 21, and others in an armed robbery of the Residence Inn on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton, stealing approximately $200, before moving on to the Sikorsky Credit Union in Stratford on July 2, where they attempted an armed robbery.

It was an armed robbery the same day of the Westport TD Bank on Post Road East that led to the two men’s capture. According to press reports, Supersad and Santiago were arrested by Westport police in a search after that robbery and have been detained ever since.

On Monday, Dec. 15, Supersad and Santiago both pleaded guilty in Bridgeport federal court to one count of conspiracy to affect commerce by robbery, which carries a 20-year maximum prison term. The men will be sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall in New Haven on an as-yet undetermined date.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Felice M. Duffy is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by the F.B.I. and the Westport, Shelton, Fairfield, Stratford, and Bridgeport Police Departments.
