Arrest after fight at Andros Diner

FS-WP-FPD-SIGNA Bridgeport woman was arrested after fighting with her boyfriend in the parking lot of the Andros Diner, 651 Villa Avenue, early Saturday morning.

Police arrested Ashyia Reneta Barnett, of Waterman Street, Bridgeport at about 4:20 a.m. Saturday and charged her with criminal mischief and breach of peace.

According to the report, Barnett, 26, became angry when she entered the diner and saw her boyfriend, also a Bridgeport resident, seated with two other women. Barnett and her boyfriend argued and eventually engaged in what an onlooker described as an “even fight,” with both parties punching each other in the restaurant’s parking lot.

Barnett was gone from the lot by the time police arrived, but her boyfriend reported that she had bitten him in the hand, ripped a silver chain off his neck and thrown his car keys onto the roof of the diner. The boyfriend also told police Barnett had broken a side mirror on his car.

Police said they spoke with several security guards who were also eating at the restaurant at the time and went outside to pull the two apart.

Police said the boyfriend had a red mark on his hand consistent with a bite. They also saw the boyfriend’s chain on the ground, along with shattered pieces of the car’s mirror. Diner employees retrieved the boyfriend’s keys from the restaurant roof.

Barnett returned to the scene after being contacted by police. Her nose was scratched from the fight, and she said her hand hurt from hitting her boyfriend in the head. She told police she kicked the car mirror because she was angry that the man was in the diner with two other women.

Police took Barnett into custody on $5,000 bond and released her after three hours. She was given a court date of Dec. 8.
