Fairfield man surrenders guns after arrest for grabbing wife's hair


Police arrested Fairfield resident Mark E. Smith, 50, of Penfield Road, when an argument with his wife became physical Saturday night.

According to the report, Smith and his wife were arguing in their house when he ‘charged’ her and grabbed her hair. Police took Smith into custody, where he admitted to owning two shotguns and two rifles, which he surrendered. Smith was charged with disorderly conduct and assault.

After releasing Smith on $5,000 bond, police escorted him back to his residence to collect some personal effects before leaving to stay in a different location.

Smith was due in court today, Dec. 8.
