Woman maced in Stop and Shop parking lot

Fairfield police found a woman being treated by firefighters and emergency medical technicians in the parking lot of the Kings Highway East Stop & Shop Wednesday, Nov. 26 when they responded to a report of a mace attack there.

Police said the woman, a store employee, told them she was being driven to work by her boyfriend when she saw her boyfriend’s child’s mother parked in the lot taking pictures of her and her boyfriend. When the mother began driving away, the employee said she chased after her car on foot, at which point the mother reached out of the car window and sprayed her with mace.

Police said the employee then lunged into the open car window and punched the mother in the face.

Driving away hurriedly, the mother collided with a car backing up in the lot, police said. There was no reported damage to either car from that accident.

The mother later told police her child’s father had called her and asked to meet in the store parking lot. She said she was talking to the man when his girlfriend, the store employee, came up to the open driver’s side window and started hitting her. The driver said it was then that she sprayed the woman with mace in self defense.

Police advised all parties, who are Bridgeport residents, not to have contact with each other apart from child custody arrangements.

On Sunday, Nov. 30, the employee reported to police that the mother had posted information about her, including her social security number, on Instagram. Police referred the matter to Bridgeport Police.
