Teen skateboarder struck by car

A 15-year-old Fairfield resident broke his leg after he was struck by a car at the intersection of Knapps Highway and Tunxis Hill Cutoff yesterday evening.

According to the police report, the teen was riding his skateboard on Knapps Highway at about 5:40 when he switched lanes to avoid traffic just before reaching the Tunxis Hill Cutoff intersection.

The driver, a Fairfield resident going westbound on Knapps Highway, said she didn’t see the skateboarder, but felt the collision. She told police when she stopped, she saw the teen on the ground.

The skateboarder was taken by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital, where medical staff determined he had fractured his tibia.
