Fairfield’s Nutmeg Bowl was the site of the 29th Annual “Bowl for Kids” bowl-a-thon, hosted by Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut at Nutmeg on Nov. 1 and at Lore’s Lanes in New Milford on Nov. 8.

Individuals representing area companies such as GE Capital, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, Cartus, Savings Bank of Danbury, and Odyssey Logistics and Technology supported the Bowl-a-thon event to raise money for Junior Achievement’s economic education programs for local K-12 students, and as a way to build team spirit and camaraderie.

“I believe that effective programming at an early age means a lifetime of impact,” said event co-chair, Ken Eng, director supply chain at Cartus. “What could be better than helping a young person in the ways of the working world, to prepare them for the future? I can’t think of anything more important.” Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut programs reached more than 22,600 students during the 2013-14 school year.

Partnering with educators, businesses and local communities for more than 68 years, Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut helps student connect classroom learning to the real world, allowing them to recognize the value of staying in school, increasing the likelihood they will graduate.
