Motor vehicle accidents

There were two notable motor vehicle accidents in town last weekend, according to police reports.

An auto accident involving three cars ensued when a driver pulled out of the Old Navy parking lot on Black Rock Turnpike last Saturday afternoon, hitting the right side of a northbound car, then hitting the same car a second time in the rear, and continuing into the opposite lane line to strike a southbound car.

The driver, an 87-year-old Bridgeport resident, told police the first collision happened when her foot slipped off the brake, after which she lost control of the car, which then collided with the southbound car.

There were no reported injuries from the accident, which occurred at about 2 p.m. Police said the driver’s license was seized.

Police were called to the scene of a single-car accident on Friday when a 91-year-old man drove off Edgewood Road and up on the front lawn of a residence. The car collided with the homeowner’s car, which was parked in the driveway, and then rolled over on its side.

According to the report, the driver’s breath smelled of alcohol. He was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for evaluation.
