Blumenthal endorses Brand for state House

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal has announced his endorsement of Democrat Sue Brand for state representative in the 132nd District.

Brand is challenging Republican incumbent Brenda Kupchick.

“Sue Brand has been a strong and consistent voice for the Fairfield community and will be an effective and dedicated State Representative,” Blumenthal said in a statement.

This is the second time that Blumenthal has endorsed Brand for public office, having backed her for Fairfield Board of Education 5 years ago.

“I am thrilled and honored to once again receive the backing of our senator, Richard Blumenthal,” Brand said in a press release. “Over so many years Senator Blumenthal has been the role model of commitment and dedication to serving all of the people of Fairfield.

“I understand that serving in public office is a privilege that is earned,” Brand continued. “Five years ago, Sen. Blumenthal endorsed me for my current Fairfield Board of Education seat. I have never forgotten the trust that he and the voters in Fairfield put in me every day, and I work hard to make a difference and earn that trust. As your state representative in the 132nd District, I look forward to continuing my 20-year commitment of service to all the people of Fairfield.”
