Thief steals $3,300 from parked car in Southport, flees on foot

A visitor to a house on Village Lane reported the theft of a purse containing $3,300 cash, credit cards and her license from her unlocked car while it was parked in the driveway of the house on Nov. 8.

The visitor told police she had been inside for approximately 30 minutes when a child in the house saw a man wearing a hoodie enter the car and run off with the purse.

The purse was recovered on a nearby roadside, but the cash, which had been in a bank envelope secured by rubber bands, was missing.
