Ludlowe spikers defeat Glastonbury to gain quarterfinals

Coach Meghan Skelton’s Fairfield Ludlowe girls volleyball team posted a 3-1 victory over visiting Glastonbury High on Thursday.

The third-seeded Falcons (17-2) will play host to No. 6 Stamford (19-3) on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the quarterfinal round.

Ludlowe won the first set handily, 25-9, with Olivia Auray scoring seven service winners, including the final five.

The 14th-seeded Tomahawks (13-8) turned the tables and won the second set, 25-17.

Ludlowe took game three 25-21, behind the setting of Andrea Alvarez and the back row play of Liz Buckley, Caitlyn Sprinkle and Alice Nelson.

Game four went to the Falcons, 25-21. April Cooke and Keki Cardenas dominated the middle and Kylie McCaffrey and Alex McKinnon played well.
