Complaints: Not all voters checked for i.d. in Fairfield, unofficial checkers acting improperly

voteMatthew Waggner, Fairfield Democratic Registrar of Voters, reported that his office received complaints earlier in the day of voters not being checked for identification and unofficial checkers improperly interacting with voters at polling sites.

Voters without ID were reportedly being “vouched for” by other people at the polls. Waggner issued an advisory directing poll workers to ask each voter to present a printed ID in the form of a DMV ID “or any form of identification with a preprinted name as well as a photo, signature, or current address.”

In addition, Waggner said that his office had received a complaint of unofficial checkers interacting with voters in the polling place. His advisory concerning ID checking also instructed workers to inform unofficial checkers that disrupting “the orderly process of voting by interacting with voters or other pollworkers” would result in ejection from the polling site.
