Applauds Kupchick’s efforts during Exide clean-up

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor:

As a member of FPLAN, a Fairfield-based organization dedicated to ensuring environmental protection and oversight for our town’s land, marshes, open space and waters, I would like to thank our state representative, Brenda Kupchick, for her strong advocacy when it came to the long awaited Exide clean-up and Mill River lead remediation.

I am grateful for her commitment, as Brenda helped lead efforts to ensure our state officials required a better clean up and more input from our town and better access to detailed information.

The clean-up project has commenced, and we have seen more transparency and responsiveness from both the DEEP and Exide to Fairfield residents as a result of the efforts.

We will all benefit as will future generations from this joint town-state-citizen cooperation, in which Brenda played an important role.
