Avon salesman defrauded

A Fairfield resident selling Avon products told police on Oct. 29 he was scammed by a “Donald Liberty” from Daytona Florida.

The Avon salesman said Liberty sent him a check for $1,980 — $1,586 more than the cost of his online purchase – claiming he was injured, couldn’t get to the bank, and had only his disability check to use to pay for the items.

Liberty asked the salesman to provide a refund of the overage, which he did, only to discover later that Liberty’s check was fraudulent.
