Fall baseball in full swing

Fairfield Jr. Babe Ruth Fall Ball reports the following results for week two:
Major Division
DeRose Family
Podiatry 13,
Trumbull1M 3
Dakota DeJordy and Matt Reich each pitched three innings allowing only three hits and one earned run.
DeJordy led the hitting attack, reaching base all four times with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Andrew Walsh had a single, double, triple and a walk with two runs scored and four RBIs.
Stratford Black 2,
Ray Flanagan Plumbing
& Heating 1
A close game to the end closed with a walk-off hit for the win by Stratford with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Highlights of the game were strong pitching performances by Kyle Cavadi and Joe Tamucci.
Brendan Bow scored Flanagan’s only run with some very smart base running.
Tallman Builders 13,
Fairfield PAL 5
Josh Jeon hit an inside the park home run in the third, and Bobby Clark and John Annuzi hit triples that were part of a seven-run rally in the fifth.
Wilton Red 13,
Tallman Builders 5
Jeon hit a double and walked twice scoring three times.
Stratford Maroon 5,
DeRose Family Podiatry  4
Despite the tough loss, several players stepped up to cover for missing teammates.
Tom Scheller moved from his normal position to catch five innings so that Walsh could start for DeRose
Walsh only allowed two runs and left with a 4-2 lead, then caught the finaltwo2 innings.
Dan Henry also did a nice job, pitching two innings including a scoreless sixth.
Flanagan Plumbing 14,
McGoldrick Fuel 4
Multiple RBI base hits by Tamucci, John Aquino, Nicolas Yee and Dominick Conte helped lead Ray Flanagan to victory. David Purcell also had a key RBI single.
Stratford Green 11,
Fairfield PAL 1
M.J. Duffy had two hits and Sean O’Gara had a hit and four stolen bases.
Stratford Green 6,
McGoldrick Fuel 3
Zach Day, Greg Nevins, Owen Mockler and Tommy Taylor all had hits for McGoldrick.
Prep Division
Artie’s Auto Body 11,
Dairy Queen 7
Pitcher Jack Murphy had a strong start with Sam Ruppert contributing and clutch save from Jordan DeStefano.
Murphy, Liam Holroyd, Ruppert and Quin Koether had multi-hit games to lead the offense.
DQ tried to come back late with Chris Meyer’s two singles and Stephen Mettler’s big stand-up double.
DQ had quality pitching from Conner Cronin, Paul Jeon, Stephen Mettler and James Riffice.
Artie’s Auto Body 16,
Trumbull1 9
Riley Williams had a nice catch and throw to double up a runner to killing a rally.
Artie’s had strong pitching from Henry Schmidt, Dan Fitzpatrick, Johnnie Kilcullen and DeStefano.
Cole Maute hit a big double and Jacob von der Linden had two hits.
Yankee Electric 6,
Dairy Queen 2
Two diving, fully prone, line drive catches in the same inning by shortstop Ryan Donnelly led the defense.
Izaake Zuckerman went the distance on the mound for Yankee Electric.
Stephen Mettler pitched three scoreless innings for DQ with three strikeouts and one walk.
Bigelow Tea 17,
Fairfield County
Bank and Insurance 7
Big hits by Connor Bennett and Tate Sterner led the offense.
Strong pitching performances were turned in by Max Lee and Justin Schiller.
