McCreesh, Abrahamson posting fine times in debut season

The Greens Farms Academy girls cross country team will run in the Fairchester Athletic Association championships on Monday, Nov. 1, at Waveny Park in New Canaan, with the meet starting at 2:20 p.m.
Dragons coach Glen Colello is expecting a good outing from his team, including a pair of Fairfield natives.
“Madi McCreesh is in eighth grade and has been running on the varsity team all season,” he said. “In her first cross country race ever she finished 25th at the Wilton Invitational against all the public schools, 126 runners total.
“In her next race against the boarding schools at the Canterbury Invite, she finish fifth in division two, but had the 12th fastest time of all girls in either division.
“We do have another freshman girl from Fairfield who finished 10th in the FAA Mega meet — Maddy Abrahamson. She also has never run cross country before.”
At the final regular season meet on Oct. 22, GFA prevailed despite inclement conditions. The team experienced multiple personal best times on the Brunswick course.
Junior Maggie Boudreau ran her 5K in a time of 20:09. Abrahamson dropped almost 30 seconds off her personal best, clocking in at 21:13.
