Police say a man attempted to shoplift $124 in items from Whole Foods Market in Fairfield.

The management at Whole Foods Market in Fairfield reported to police on Saturday, Oct. 25,  that Stefan Novotny, 29, ran out of the store with assorted meat and beer worth $124.

Store security caught up with Novotny, of 290 Sailors Lane, Bridgeport, and escorted him back to the store. Responding police arrested him at about 3 p.m. Saturday on a misdemeanor larceny charge.

Novotny was released on a promise to appear in court on Nov. 3.
