McCarthy Vahey will be good for state, town

To the Editor:

Cristin McCarthy Vahey will make a superb state representative for the 133rd District.

For years, she has dedicated her time selflessly to Fairfield and the people who live here. She has accumulated a wide range of experiences relevant to governing, currently as an elected member of Fairfield’s three-person Board of Selectmen and before that, as a member of Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting.

I have enormous respect for Cristin. She is not quick to jump to conclusions. She analyzes difficult issues from many angles and has a track record of balancing her ideals against what is practical or possible.

In my opinion, Cristin’s track record is one of standing above partisan politics. All state representatives in Hartford, regardless of political affiliation, will feel that Cristin is willing to listen and collaborate if the ideas are sound, good for Connecticut and good for the 133rd District.

I describe Cristin as a woman of strong principles, while being well grounded in fiscal reality. I would urge all voters to check out Cristin’s website, in particular her views on economic development and jobs at She understands that jobs are most important to Connecticut residents and that sound infrastructure, including transportation infrastructure, is essential for attracting and retaining residents.
