Cook-Littman does not make false promises

To the Editor:

I am a small business owner in Fairfield who supports Tara Cook-Littman for state representative.

Tara understands that small businesses are the backbone of our local, state and national economy. When Connecticut’s small business sector is growing and thriving, the entire state reaps the benefits because small businesses are where the state gets the best return on its investment.

While it is easy for politicians on the campaign trail to utilize persuasive rhetoric and say things like, “we need to make Connecticut more business friendly,” Tara does not utter false promises or vague strategies to capture the vote.

Any candidate who promises you that they will cut taxes before being in office, studying the budget and locating waste is lying to you. Tara knows that it would be fiscally irresponsible to cut taxes without also cutting spending. Eliminating wasteful government spending will help lower the taxes levied on small businesses.

Tara wants to cut the permitting time for small businesses, as well as lower healthcare and energy costs for employers. The last time we spoke, we talked about the Small Business Express Package — a program I am greatly in favor of. It offers grants and loans to help small businesses get up and running. It has been successful in creating thousands of Connecticut jobs.

I grew up in Trumbull and opened my café in Fairfield. I care about this area deeply and I know Tara does, too. When you head to the polls on Nov. 4, please vote for Tara Cook-Littman for state representative — someone who will work hard to help the small business community.
