Fairfield police make arrest in alleged car theft, thefts from cars

Fairfield police arrested Mark Soto Oct. 3 and charged him in connection with a car theft and car break-ins.

At around 1 a.m. on Oct. 3,  police apprehended several male suspects on Old Field Road after a foot chase, according to police reports.  The subsequent police investigation revealed that the suspects had allegedly stolen a vehicle and burglarized several other vehicles in Fairfield.

Among the items police found in the vehicle were a BB gun and a Swiss army knife.

Mark Soto, 18, of Hicks Street, Bridgeport and an unidentified juvenile were  arrested and charged with burglary, possession of weapons in a motor vehicle, larceny and interfering with police.

Police report that other suspects got away during the chase that night and they are continuing the investigation.
According to police, owners of vehicles that were broken into have since come forward to claim stolen property recovered during the apprehension.
