Absentee ballots are now available for the Nov. election.

Absentee ballots are now available for registered Connecticut voters who will be out of town or otherwise unable to go to their polling places to cast their ballots on election day –Tuesday, Nov. 4 – according to Connecticut Secretary of State Denise Merrill.
In a statement released by her office, Merrill also reminded Connecticut citizens of upcoming voter registration deadlines.  “Voters can register online or by mail until Tuesday Oct. 21, and have until Tuesday, Oct. 28 to register in person at their town offices in order to cast a ballot on Election Day,” Merrill said in the statement.
Merrill urged registered voters to apply now, rather than later, for an absentee ballot, if they know they are going to be out of town on election day. “Don’t put off applying … until it is too late – make sure you have a say in who serves in your state and federal government, ” she said.
Connecticut citizens can go to www.stos.ct.gov/vote to register for the general election. Once registered, voters can also go to the Secretary of State’s website to download an application for an absentee ballot. Applications may also be available on local town websites or in town clerks’ offices.
The Secretary of State’s office said once applications are submitted and accepted, absentee ballots are sent to applicants within days, and must then be signed and returned by mail or in person.  They must be received by town clerks no later than 8 p.m. on Nov. 4.
