Alleged assault over recycling turf

A man went to police headquarters Sept. 28 to report that while he was collecting bottles from recycling bins in the vicinity of North Benson and Wakeman roads, another man pulled up beside him, got out of his car, and punched him in the face, telling him not to collect cans at that location.

Police reported that the victim of the assault was bleeding from his eye, which was swollen shut, as well as from his mouth. The man was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for treatment, where it was found he had a concussion as well.

The man did not want any police action taken.
