Dragons fare well at FAA opener

The Fairchester Athletic Association opened its regular season last week with all teams running a 5K course at Sherwood Island in Westport.
GFreens Farms Academy won four head-to-head matches while dropping two.
Senior Kenner Clark finished first overall out of 135 runners with a blazing time of 17:25.
Rounding out the top five for GFA were junior Andrew McCarthy from Southport 18:27, junior Luiz Machado from Fairfield 18:30, senior Andrew Allison-Godfrey 19:00 and junior Dan Paliotta 19:59.
The Dragons went on to defeat King in a close match up.
Freshman Alex McCall finished first  overall with his fastest time to date at 19:43.
Freshman Austin Rooney ran strong clocking in at 20:40 and junior Andrew Holiday sprinted in at 21:01.
Another group of boys raced at the Canterbury Invitational in New Milford, where GFA took fourth in a field of 17 prep schools from all over the northeast.
McCarthy place second overall in a strong field of 100 runners.
Sophomore Riley Grady took 43rd with a time of 19:57 and senior Mark Whittker from Fairfield finished 50th with his fastest time of the season 20:14.
