Hwang, Fawcett to debate in Weston

On Sat., Oct. 11, from 10:30 to noon, candidates for the state Senate District 28 seat will debate at the Westonweston-LWV-logo Public Library at an event hosted by the League of Women Voters of Weston.

Who are the two candidates? They are Republican Tony Hwang and Democrat Kim Fawcett, both of Fairfield. Both are sitting members of the state House. They have formally accepted the league’s invitation to answer questions from the public.

How will the questions be asked, and by whom? All questions will come from the audience, and are to be written on three-inch by five-inch cards, which will be supplied by the league. Each question will be screened by the league for its appropriateness for both candidates to address. Questions passing the screening process will be posed by the moderator to the candidates.

The league will time all responses and rebuttals, and provide appropriate time indications to the candidates.

Those with a question for these candidates who cannot be present on Oct. 11 at the debate may visit the League of Women Voters of Weston website, lwvweston.org, and submit a question online.
