St. Thomas graffiti not gang-related

Fairfield police said the graffiti that appeared on equipment in the playground of St. Thomas Acquinas School recently was not gang-related.

Fairfield police Lt. James Perez said the department had consulted with Connecticut gang expert John Aldi, who said the drawings that appeared on St. Thomas property were not gang graffiti, which is often embedded with a message.

Fairfield police consulted Aldi because the graffiti that appeared on the grounds of St. Thomas between Sept. 16 and 17 displayed some hallmarks of gang tags, such as a triple crown insignia and a black-and-white medium.
