A gray-and-white Bengal cat well-known in its Greenfield Hill neighborhood was shot and paralyzed Sept. 15 in the vicinity of Catamount and Redding Roads, police say.

A resident driving in the area on Monday spotted the injured cat, named Elvis, at the corner of Catamount and Redding Roads. Recognizing the 13-year-old Elvis from the neighborhood, the woman drove the cat to a Norwalk animal hospital he survived surgery but remained paralyzed.

A 22-caliber bullet was retrieved, and police are looking in to the incident. “Cruelty to animals should not be tolerated,” Lt. James Perez of the Fairfield Police Department said.
