Kupchick named ranking member

State Rep. Brenda Kupchick has been named a ranking member of the legislature’s Housing Committee.

As ranking member, Kupchick will become part of the committee leadership responsible working on state housing proposals that come before the committee.

The Housing Committee in the General Assembly has cognizance over all matters relating to housing and housing programs in the state of Connecticut.

“I know Brenda’s determination to get all the facts on an issue and Brenda’s strong work ethic will benefit all members of the house,” House Republican Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr. said.

“I look forward to serving as the ranking member on the Housing Committee. In this new role, I intend to put a greater spotlight on the current flaws in the 8-30g housing statutes. In this leadership position, I will work more closing with town leaders on the new affordable housing master plan, with an emphasis on providing Fairfield seniors with more affordable housing options,” Kupchick said.

Kupchick serves on the legislature’s Public Safety Committee and also sits on the Program Review and Investigations Committee that meets year round and is currently undertaking a study of the state veterans home and their treatment of veterans.

The new legislative session kicks off on Jan. 7, and will conclude June 3.
