Considers town’s library a ‘jewel’ in the community

To the Editor:

As a Fairfield resident, I am pleased to commend the Fairfield Public Library and all of its many programs.

This library is not your parents’ or grandparents’ library, where you simply go take out books and return them. Our library is a vital, energetic resource available to our town.

The depth of programs is phenomenal — from book groups, book discussions, speakers on many topics, you name it, from financial advice to job searching, to computers and gardening. I have taken many of theses classes and find them helpful and informative.

But probably the best part of the library is the staff, who are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and willing to go out of their way to provide answers. As a member of a book club, I have found the librarians to be very supportive and accommodating when we reach out to them for help.

I volunteer at the library as a library ambassador and enjoy spending time and working in this vibrant environment.

Hopefully, the library will be able to continue it’s wonderful work. I hope that the RTM will continue to support “our jewel” with the necessary funding.
