Yesterday morning, Sept. 17, the principal of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School in Fairfield reported to police that the school’s playground had been vandalized overnight. According to the police report, between 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8:00 a.m. Wednesday,  graffiti was drawn on the playground’s climbing wall and pads covering poles of the basketball hoops.

Police expressed concern over the graffiti’s resemblance to a gang “tag,” with a triple crown sitting above the name “Kazo,”  and asked that any suspicious activity in the neighborhood of the school be reported to them.

The principal told police that recently beer cans and bottles had been found in the school playground and yard.

The playground was brand new, having just been dedicated Sept. 2.  The school principal said the graffiti could not be washed off; she estimated the damage to be in the thousands of dollars.
