Police called to potential threat at Fairfield Prep

Fairfield police and Fairfield University public safety officers this afternoon responded to a “medical/personal situation involving a family with a son enrolled at Fairfield Prep,” according to an email sent to the Fairfield University community by the university’s administration.

A witness driving on North Benson Road saw an ambulance, two unmarked police cars and two patrol cars speeding toward the school with emergency lights flashing shortly after 3 p.m.

The university’s email, issued at 4:42, said there was no threat to the campus community and the matter was being handled by police. The police responded to the school “out of an abundance of caution,” the email said.
