Alleged shoplifter nabbed at Stop and Shop

Fairfield police arrested Norwalk resident Oscar Zelaya-Garcia, 28, on charges of shoplifting $98 from the health and beauty care aisle of Super Stop and Shop on Kings Highway Cutoff.

Officers additionally charged Zelaya-Garcia with criminal impersonation when he falsely identified himself as Nelson Mendoza. Police said they discovered Zelaya-Garcia’s true identity, and several outstanding warrants for failure to appear for a court date, when they took his fingerprints.

Zelaya-Garcia was held on $1,500 bond and given a court date of Sept. 25. His previous arrests were for charges of larceny, robbery and interfering with a police officer, according to the police report.
