Prep defeats Stamford, 59-40

Fairfield Prep defeated Stamford High, 59-40, in its football season opener on Thursday night.
The Jesuits traded scores with the Black Knights throughout the SCC-FCIAC Challenge game played at Taft Field.
Colton Smith ran for three touchdowns and threw for a pair of scores.
Prep led 14-7 after one quarter, 35-26 at the half and 49-34 after three periods.
Jack Snopkowski’s 75-yard interception return opened the scoring.
Hank Healy was 7-for-7 on conversions and kicked a 20-yard field goal.
Jake Buckley (63 yards) and John DeliSanti (19 yards) had touchdown receptions.
Joe Ganim competed the scoring with a 29-yard run.
