Fairfield University student reports sex assault; may have been drugged

A Fairfield University student reported a sex assault on campus Friday night, Fairfield police said.

The female student told school security officers late Friday night that the last thing she remembered clearly was meeting a male student at a party earlier in the evening at a campus townhouse.

After that, she said, she remembered walking through a wooded area, and then being somewhere cold, where she was forced to have non-consensual oral sex with the other student. The male student reportedly later sent her a text reading, “Sorry I was bad tonight.”

The female student told security officers she felt under the influence of something, although she did not remember drinking alcohol. Officers noted she was lethargic and glassy-eyed, with slurred speech. The student was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for treatment.

Campus security called Fairfield police, who interviewed both students separately. According to the report, the male student said the female student came up to him at the townhouse party and started “hanging all over” him. After campus security broke up the party, he said, she took photos of them kissing and they went to his dorm room and “hooked up.”

The incident remains under investigation.
