Junior Midgets defeat Seymour, 40-0

The Fairfield Junior Midget Giants improved to 2-0 with a 40-0 victory over the Seymour Tigers.  Six players scored, showing the depth and versatility of the Giants’ line-up. Fairfield put 21 points on the board in the first half.
Aidan Wykoff scored from 40 yards out for the game’s first touchdown and Brian Kiremidjian followed with the PAT.
Fairfield set up for the onside kick and Owen Sherman alertly fell on the ball, giving possession back to the Giants.
Finn Duran followed with a 35-yard run to the one-yard line and Owen Cirilli snuck into the end zone on the next snap, upping the score to 14-0.
Sam Roberto put the game away when he wove his way through the Seymour defense for the score. Cirilli ran in the PAT and the Giants went up 21-0.
Fairfield’s defense was stellar, allowing minimal yardage the entire contest. Big-time plays were made by Sherman, who also had several strong runs, Jeff Meyers, Henry Houghton, Brandon Moutinho, who also recovered an onside kick, Anthony Espinoza, Hayden Beiser and Jake Simonelli.
The second half was much of the same, as Fairfield continued to pour it on.
Houghton powered his way in for a score, breaking tackles and delivering a stiff-arm on the way.
The Giants defense continued its dominance, as Kiremidjian came up with an interception.
Moutinho had the longest run of the day, as he took the next hand off and ran for an 80-yard touchdown.
Espinoza scored the final touchdown as the clock expired.  The Giants are on the road vs Hamden this week.
