Motorcyclist dies after wreck on Merritt Parkway

A motorcyclist died of injuries suffered in a crash on the Merritt Parkway Friday, Sept. 21, at 11:55 p.m.

Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bisson said the highway was completely closed just south of Exit 44 northbound because of the accident.

Both the Westport and Fairfield fire departments responded due to the location.

The driver of the motor cycle was seriously injured and transported to St Vincent’s hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Connecticut State Police remained on scene investigating the cause of the accident.

Bisson said the identity of the motorcyclist has not been released.
