Fairfield Police close to arrest in sex assault case

Fairfield police said today they are very close to making an arrest in the reported sexual assault of a Fairfield woman on Monday.

Lieutenant James Perez said police have been “working around the clock” on the case, and “have done a diligent job going in narrowing down the suspects.”

As reported earlier in the week, a Sacred Heart University student told police that an unknown male broke into her off-campus house in the early morning hours of  Sept. 1, assaulted her, and fled. Police developed a sketch of the suspect based on the woman’s description of a short and stocky Hispanic male with light-colored eyes and dark, spiky hair.
