Woman injured when car hits tree early Saturday

A woman was hospitalized after her car struck a tree on Congress Street Saturday, Sept. 22, at 1:50 a.m.

A 911 call reported hearing a crash and finding a tree in front of 1279 Congress St.

Police and firefighters found the driver on the ground, having been pulled from the car by a bystander, according to Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bisson.

Bisson said the woman suffered serious injuries; firefighters were uncertain what hospital she was taken to.

Fairfield Police remained on scene and the road was closed during the investigation, Bisson said.
