Fairfield police are asking the public’s help in identifying this suspect in an early morning home invasion and assault on Sept. 1.

A woman was sexually assaulted inside her house by an unknown assailant early Monday morning, Sept. 1, Fairfield Police said.

The woman, a Sacred Heart University student, called police around 3 a.m. to report that a man had entered her off-campus house on Berkeley Road, sexually assaulted her and fled.

The suspect is described as a short, stocky Hispanic man in his 20s, about 5-foot-2 to 5-feet, 6 inches tall, with dark spiky hair, and what were described as light colored eyes. The man was wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack. The victim believed her assailant had some facial acne and facial hair, and spoke with a Spanish accent.  The victim did not see or hear a vehicle leave the scene.

Berkeley Road is located in the southeast section of town, near Tunxis Hill Park.

Anyone who can identify the subject from the sketch provided, or has additional information, is asked to contact the Detective Bureau at 203-254-4840.

No information, however insignificant it may seem, should be overlooked, police said.

Anonymous Text-a-Tips can be sent to: 274637. Police said texts made to that line are completely confidential and cannot be traced.

The Fairfield Police Department is running down leads and has physical evidence that they believe will aid in identifying the perpetrator, according to police.

Fairfield Police said they requested initial assistance from the Connecticut State Police in processing the crime scene, which they said was a common procedure for serious crimes. The state police, they said, have superior equipment for preserving evidence.

The victim, who had sought safety at a friend’s house after the attack, was later treated at a local hospital and released.
